I have submitted my site, what happens now?
Once you have submitted your site, you will receive emails from some web directory sites to let you know they have received your submission. Others will send an email with a link attached that has to be followed as a way of confirming it was you who made the submission.
You have to follow up on the email confirmation requests for those manual directory submission to advance to the next step.
There are so many web directory sites it can become quite confusing to remember which ones you have already submitted to, which are waiting approval and so on. An efficient system is to maintain a file of your submissions to avoid duplications.
If you have opted for a paid listing then you will probably receive notification very quickly. For free listings things can take some time, it all comes down to the directory; it can be anything from a week to three months. Free listings have to go through an editorial review and all the guidelines have to have been met. Some directories will approve your submission but not let you know, whilst others will let you know by email.
